This summer, Tia is joined by Tamsyn Klazek-Schryer on the Fiddle and Voice, and Cynan Thompson on the Guitar, Bodhran, and Voice.

Tamsyn Klazek-Schryer is a traditional fiddle player, classical violinist, and vocalist based in Victoria, BC on the unceded territory of the Songhees and Xʷsepsəm Nations. Currently completing her degree in violin performance at the University of Victoria’s School of Music under the tutelage of Ann Elliott-Goldschmidt, Tamsyn started her post-secondary studies in performance at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University with Marcelle Mallette. Tamsyn has been the recipient of many performance and academic awards including Victoria Musical Art Society Scholarship, Herbert and Eva Schaefer String Scholarship, GVYO Irish Scholarship, Dave Dunnet Scholarship, Musicians Performance Trust Fund Award, PRISMA entrance scholarship, and others. In November of 2025 Tamsyn performed as a soloist with the UVic Symphony Orchestra after winning the 2025 UVic Concerto Competition. As a fiddler, Tamsyn has toured Ireland as a member of Coastline Fiddlers, performed in her own bands across Canada, and was invited to the prestigious Canadian Grand Masters competition in Whitehorse in 2024. This spring she will be performing as a guest artist with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra alongside Pierre Schryer, Adam Dobres and Daniel Emblom. Her violin playing and warm vocal stylings have been heard in many clubs, restaurants and performance venues over the years. As Tamsyn embraces her lifelong pursuit of excellence and joy through music, she is dedicated to making live music universally accessible.

Cynan Thompson grew up playing music with his two brothers in the Tatlako Valley, a remote community on Tsilhqot’in territory west of Williams Lake. They performed throughout interior B.C. and recorded two albums of original music together as The Thompson Brothers. Cynan moved to Victoria in high school where he has studied guitar with Charlie Gannon and Quinn Bachand, as well as training in classical voice with Kyron Basu. Cynan specializes in accompanying fiddle players, providing a rhythmic and harmonic backdrop that is solid, intuitive and engaging. He has a deep reverence for the tradition of fiddle music and aspires to uphold the integrity of these tunes in the context of modern equipment, performance practices, and musical tastes. He is a founding member and organizer of the phenomenon of the West Coast Barn Dances which brings traditional Canadian fiddle music and set dancing to hundreds of students in the city, fast becoming an iconic fixture of the scene there. He has done shows with fiddlers like Ivonne Hernandez, Daniel Lapp, Max Francis, and Pierre Schryer in venues of many sizes, from large music festivals like Riflandia and Arts on the Fly, to all manner of community centres, pubs, markets and weddings in the woods. He also won the Victoria Operatic Society Aria competition in 2025 and is in his first year of law school.

These three young musicians have been playing fiddle music together for 6 years in a collection of groups and ensembles. Their artistic and technical prowess is extremely exciting and only increasing. British Columbia has been home to a number of incredible traditional musicians over the years; and luckily for these three, they have been in the right place at the right time to benefit from the inspiration and instruction that many of these musicians have provided. Now, Tia Greenwood & Co is poised to bring their own unique contribution to this legacy.

Their repertoire features a mix of traditional session-style improvisation and creative arrangements, energetic fiddle tunes, folk songs in beautiful three part harmony, and fun instrument-switches. It is instantly obvious how much these three enjoy making music together and this energy is infectious. Whether it's in a small sit down venue where audiences have the opportunity to appreciate their energy and musicianship, or on a larger stage where they can lead a crowd in set dances, this ensemble, fills a unique niche in any lineup.
